I decided to just try to get the ball rolling(literally) with my project. I’ve been trying to make a model LINAC, which we started in 9th grade(link to writeup attached), but it hasn’t really been working. I’m pretty sure that that’s because the electric field we’ve been trying to generate using a Whimhurst Machine hasn’t been affecting the ball because the tube we were using was too thick. So I used old 3d printer food holders(which look a little like tape rolls) instead of the tube. The rolls’ relative shortness allows me to put the copper tape on the inside of the tube we are shooting the ball down, bypassing the problem of the tube being too thick. First, I kept the ball inside the tube, put powered copper tape on either side, and hooked up one of the two wires from the Whimhurst machine to each side:
