Raspberry Pi temperature is 70 C at 9:40 AM pacific time. I have been monitoring the temperature and it has remained within accepted operational temperatures. I’ve started working on understanding and using Jupyter Notebook (https://www.dataquest.io/blog/jupyter-notebook-tutorial/).

I worked on better understanding the code t.py (:py/research/analysis/ sudo nano t.py) that does the analysis of our data. I worked with the -G switch that does an averaging of points before and after a particular point to “smooth” the data curve. We originally used -G 5 but I seemed to get better data with -G 10. Of course none of this work is legitimate until we can recalibrate the telescopes for their new positions. I used the -Q switch to look at frequencies. We definitely have a strong signal at the neutral hydrogen line.

Cosmic ray detector is collecting data but off-line so that I can work on the radio telescope. We still have only one ethernet cable so we can only control one pi at a time.
We are set up to calibrate the radio telescope for its new position.

New data uploaded 15SEP122957. We need to get accurate measurements for PMT locations. I will do that next trip to the roof. I marked the locations of all of the cables using blue tape with Beto yesterday. IP is 76.80.63.2:4900
I hope to set up and calibrate radio telescopes next week.
Attended meeting with DSPiRA Group yesterday. They were impressed with our setup. A group of kids in North Carolina is working on plan to move telescope’s azimuth and elevation positions using stepper motors.

Still struggling with the ethernet connection for the cosmic ray detector. The cabling for the radio telescopes will not be available for another 3 – 4 weeks.

Having trouble with internet on roof at ES. I took the CR detector pi home and checked that everything worked. Indications were that the port at ES was dead. Contacted Mark to check. He check and responded with “try now.” I tried at 7:41 pm and got a connection timed out. I emailed Mark the results. We are still waiting for additional cables to be run for the radio telescopes.

Joined the PANOPTES call at 3:00 pm today. Over 30 participants with some interesting developments. Data is now available on Github. There is a URL that gives live feed from the detector in Hawaii. A new development with this addition to the detector is that they were able to detect 13 asteroids in one evening. I will post URL when I find it in my notes.

Visited MORI and worked with Luka and others on Plant CV. They have made very good progress and are on the verge of using it to collect legitimate data. They are performing tests to demonstrate the validity of their data. I picked up the thermistor and brought it back to WISRD for diagnostic testing to see what happened to it. It was reading very strange temperatures.

Uploaded CR data for July 21 and 22 from cabin in Ohio using VPN. We are still working on stepper motor control of PMT potentials remotely using Raspberry Pi. Tweeted update. Secured speaker for Astronomy Club meeting in December.

Uploaded CR Data for July 16, 17, 18th and ran Muon Time of Life experiement.
Travelled to ES and drilled 1/2″ holes to secure radio telescope positions at 90 degrees and 38 degrees. Set telescopes to point South (180 degrees azimuth) and 38 degrees elevation.
!/2″ Dowel inserted into telescope to maintain pointing until motors are attached.
Waiting for ethernet cables to bring scopes online. Once internet access has been established, the cosmic ray detector will be transferred to the ES and our experiment will begin.
